Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district constituted as a new administrative unit

After struggling with naxalite activities for a long time, this region would now undergo an accelerated development

Chief Minister will inaugurate Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki as 29th district of the state today
Raipur, 1 September 2022/ Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district will be carved out of Rajnandgaon district today, as a new administrative unit of the state. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel’s historic announcement of constituting this district had stirred waves of joy among the people of forest areas in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki. This area has struggled with Naxal activities for a long time, but now with the recognition as an adminitrative unit, a district, this region would undergo development at an accelerated pace. State Government has prioritized the development works in these areas, especially in the fields of health, education, food grains, road connectivity.
Mohala-Manpur is a tribal dominated region, rich in natural forest wealth with abundance of minor forest produce. Geographically speaking, this new district is bordered by Tehsil Chhuria of district Rajnandgaon in the north, Tehsil Durgkondal, Pakhanjur district Kanker in the south, Tehsil Daundi in the east, Daundi Lohara district Balod and Maharashtra in the west. The new district will be under Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh outpost Durg division. Ambagarh Chowki, Mohla and Manpur are the three tehsils under this newly-formed administrative unit. Development Block and Janpad Panchayat – Ambagarh Chowki, Mohla and Manpur.
Newly-formed Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki has a total of 499 villages and its geographical area is 2 lakh 14 thousand 667 hectares. The total population in this new district is 2 lakh 83 thousand 947, and the total population of scheduled tribes here is 1 lakh 79 thousand 662 which is 63.27 percent of the total population of the district. The number of Revenue Inspector Division in the district is 13, the total number of Patwari Halka is 89, and the number of Gram Panchayat is 185. The total number of police stations in Mohla-Manupar-Chowki district is 9. The district has two assembly constituency and a total of 497 polling stations.

In the new district Mohala-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, the number of villages in Ambagarh Chowki is 158, Mohala has 171 villages while Manpur has 170 villages. The geographical area of this new district is 54 thousand 747 hectares in Ambagarh Chowki, 70 thousand 301 hectares in Mohla and 89 thousand 619 hectares in Manpur. The population of Ambagarh Chowki is 1 lakh 08 thousand 334, the population of Mohla is 86 thousand 994 and the population of Manpur is 88 thousand 619. While the number of Scheduled Tribes is 52 thousand 786 in Ambagarh Chowki, it is 60 thousand 950 in Mohla and 65 thousand 926 in Manpur. The percentage of Scheduled Tribe is 48.73 in Ambagarh Chowki, 70.06 in Mohla and 74.39 in Manpur.
In the new district, the number of Revenue Inspector Division is 5 in Ambagarh Chowki, 4 in Mohla and 4 in Manpur. Likewise, number of Patwari Halka in this district is 33 in Ambagarh Chowki, 28 in Mohla and 28 in Manpur. There will be 69 gram panchayats in Ambagarh Chowki, 59 gram panchayats in Mohla and 59 gram panchayats in Manpur. The distance from Rajnandgaon district to Ambagarh Chowki is 50 km, Mohla is 75 km, Manpur is 100 km away. In the newly formed district, there are two police stations under Ambagarh Chowki i.e. Ambagarh outpost and Chilhati police station. Mohla has Mohla police station, and under Manpur, there are 6 police stations including Khadgaon police station, Manpur police station, Kohka police station, Sitagaon police station, Madanwada police station and Aundhi police station.
It is noteworthy that with an aim to bring administration closer to public and to pace up the development of this region, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel had announced the formation of new districts, and today with the inauguration of the 29th district of the state as Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, we have taken another major step towards manifestation of the vision ‘Gadhbo Nava Chhattisgarh’.
