Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel attended the World Tribal Day celebration in Jagdalpur and Sitapur, Surguja district on Wednesday. He carried out bhumipoojan and inaugurated 2848 development projects worth over Rs 1000 crore, aimed at fostering development in Bastar and Surguja. He dedicated these initiatives to the tribal populace of these regions. Mr.Baghel also used the platform to make significant announcements focused on uplifting the tribal communities, emphasising their betterment and growth.
Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel made several announcements which include the opening of B.Ed and D.Ed colleges in all the district headquarters of Bastar division, the construction of 50 seater hostels each for boys and girls in Government College located in Tokapal and Lohandiguda, the construction and installation of the statue of Budhadev Gudi (a symbol of tribal culture) in Jagdalpur, the establishment of Entrepreneur Development Institute in Geedam Road, the upgradation of Bhimrao Ambedkar Middle School Baliram Kashyap Ward of Jagdalpur into High School, the construction of 10 km new asphalt road from village Bodli to Kahchenar, the construction of 11 km long road from Mundagarh to Luler Daldali Malkangiri (Odisha), and construction of an indoor stadium in Jagdalpur.
Similarly, he announced the approval of the police station building construction in Dharampura of Jagdalpur, the allocation of 7 shops, located in the Government Medical College of Dimrapal, to tribal communities for providing better employment opportunities, the construction of the Madrimahu-Urukpal-Kumakoleng road of 14.50 km, the construction of the Madrimahu-Usakpal road of 5 km length, the construction of a 30 km road from Alevahi to Kaknar, and the approval of building construction for ‘Balak Ashram’ in Bodli of the Lohandiguda development block and in Burgum of the Bastanar development block.
Similarly, he announced the renaming of Jagdalpur District Court Chowk as “Bhoomkal Chowk”, the approval for construction of an ‘entrance gate’ in the name of “Dharmu Mahara” at Dharampura in Bastar district, the construction of high-level culvert in Avarti river, the upgradation of High School Netanar to Higher Secondary School, the upgradation of Government Girls High School Bade Kilepal to Higher Secondary School, the renaming of Maize Processing Unit at Kokodi of Kondagaon District as “Maa Danteshwari Maize Processing Unit”, the renaming of Government Model Girls College of Kondagaon as “Pramila Devi Nag Government Model Girls College”, the renaming of Government Polytechnic of Kanker as “Gharman Dev Kandra Government Polytechnic”.

Chief Minister Mr. Baghel made several important announcements in the programme organised on World Tribal Day at Sitapur in the Surguja district. He announced the construction of a tribal cultural centre in Surguja, akin to the BADAL in Bastar. Further announcements included the establishment of a Government B.Ed. College in Ambikapur, upgrading all 20-seater prematric tribal hostels in Surguja to 50-seater, renaming the Government Higher Secondary School in Sitapur as Shaheed Krishnanath Kindo to honour him, the establishment of a 200-seater Tribal Post Matric hostel in Sitapur, and the establishment of a Sports Coaching Academy in Sitapur of Surguja district.
Along with this, he approved the allocation of Rs. 25 lakh for the construction of Sarv Adivasi Bhavan, the construction of a 125-metre culvert over the Mand river on the Dhelsara to Dharampur road at a cost of Rs. 4.75 crore, the allocation of land for Sarv Adivasi Samaj and other communities, and the construction of a 250-metre culvert at a cost of Rs 10 crore over the Maini river on the Dhodhagaon-Shivnathpur road. Similarly, he approved a grant of Rs 20 lakh to the Oraon community for community hall construction and the construction of a 3.5-kilometre Chainpur-Khadgaon road in Mainpat at a cost of Rs 5 crore.
In a bid to transform Mainpat into a vibrant tourism destination, he announced to offer training to educated unemployed tribal youths in as tourist guides and receptionist, besides providing them training in fields like hotel management, photography, and adventure sports. He also pledged financial support through the Tribal Development Department to aid tribal youngsters and women from the district in their participation in national and international sports events.
Responding to the Advocates’ Association’s request, Chief Minister Mr.Baghel sanctioned Rs. 15.00 lakh for building sheds and toilets in the Tehsil office for advocates. Additionally, he allocated Rs. 7 crore 50 lakh for the construction of a 5-kilometer road from Paiga to Nanadamali in the Mainpat development block.
