Purchasing modern equipment for farming
Raipur, 20 January 2023/ Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, more than 103 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have been procured in the state. The record of paddy procurement is also breaking every year and the ‘Nyay’ schemes of the government have brought prosperity to the lives of farmers and villagers. A lot has changed in the agricultural ecosystem of the state in the last four years. Farmers who once gave up farming are now taking the profession back. This has resulted in an increase in the crop area of the state. The state government is making all possible efforts to empower the farmers with its farmer-friendly policies and schemes. Farmers of the state are shifting towards modern agriculture, purchasing tractors and modern agricultural equipment.
Problems arising in the paddy procurement system are being resolved by making the process more systematic and transparent. For the convenience of the farmers, online tokens are being made available through the ‘Token Tuhar Haath’ mobile app. The farmers selling paddy are not facing any problems now. Payment for paddy purchases is also being made directly into their bank accounts. The Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana run by the Government of Chhattisgarh has increased the confidence of the farmers. Due to this the number of farmers and the area under cultivation is also increasing continuously in the state.
Shri Narendra Verma, a farmer of Balodabazar district, said that he cultivates paddy on 45 acres. In the last four years, his acreage has increased every year. He purchases more land every year after the completion of paddy procurement. He owns a tractor. This year he has sold 800 quintals of paddy at MSP. He was paid about Rs 15 lakh in the lieu of a paddy purchase. Now he will buy a new farm using this amount.
Shri Ghanshyam Chandrakar, a farmer of the Mahasamund district, said that farming is his ancestral occupation. He has cultivated paddy on 6 acres. His acreage has increased in the last four years and he has sold 71.20 quintals of paddy. He received the token online from Token Tunhar Haath App. In the year 2020, he sold 67 quintals of paddy. After this, he is selling more than 71 quintals of paddy every year.
Shri Paras Verma, a farmer of village Mandir Hasaud in Raipur district, said that he cultivates paddy on 2.5 acres of land. He sold 33 quintals of paddy this year and received Rs 50,000 in his bank account. He has bought a new harvester to harvest the crop. With the payment received from the sale of paddy, he immediately paid the laborers their wages. He also bought high-quality fertilizers. He said that he has got good yields by using high-quality manure.
