In the financial year 2022-23, 21 thousand 96 children have been treated under the ‘Chirayu’ Yojana.

330 Chirayu Dals(Chirayu Team) including health officials are active and working across the state. They visit schools and Anganwadis across the state, examine the children’s health, identify their physical deficiencies and diseases and arrange free treatment for them. These children are registered under Chirayu Yojana through Mitanin and ANM. After conducting a high-level examination of these children by the Chirayu team, the operation will be conducted in the empanelled hospitals if needed.

The National Child Health Program is operating in the state since 2014. Its objective is to provide early treatment by checking for ‘4-Ds’ (4D) i.e. Defects at Birth, Disease, Deficiency, and Development Delays including Disability in children from zero to 18 years of age. Under this scheme, more than 44 types of diseases are diagnosed and treated free of cost. This scheme also includes referrals to advance and super specialty hospitals if needed. Under this scheme, health check-ups are conducted at various levels. These include examination of newborn babies from birth to six weeks of age by the dedicated staff at the delivery point. For children between 6 weeks to 6 years of age at Anganwadi centers, and children between the age of 6 to 18 years at government schools or government-aided schools, health check-up is conducted by Chirayu teams by visiting these places.
