Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has said that the memories of Maryada Purushottam Lord Ram are scattered in every particle of Chhattisgarh’s soil. Lord Ram has an indelible mark on the culture of Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh is the maternal home of Lord Ram. It is believed that Mata Kaushalya was born in Chandkhuri near Raipur. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, on the occasion of Ram Navami today, three days after inaugurating the first phase of renovation and beautification and development works at Shivrinarayan, a famous pilgrimage site of Chhattisgarh located at the confluence of Mahanadi, Shivnath and Leech rivers. He was addressing the general public on the occasion of the closing ceremony of the grand ceremony. He said that Shivrinarayan is the city of Lord Rama, Lord Jagannath and Mata Shabri. He also extended his greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on Ram Navami.

In the program, the Chief Minister after inaugurating development works worth 238 Crores, he also inaugurated the work of renovation, upgradation and beautification of Shivrinarayan temple complex, Ramayana Interpretation Center and Tourist Information Center, development and beautification work of River Ghat, statue of Mata Shabri at Baba Ghat, View Point, Constitution maker Bharat Ratna in Shivrinarayan’s Ambedkar Chowk. Dedicated the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.

Indu Banjare, Shri Chandradev Rai, Shri Ramkumar Yadav, Shakambhari Board President Shri Ramkumar Patel. Many public representatives and citizens including Nagar Panchayat President Smt. Anjani Tiwari were present in large numbers.

While addressing the program, the Chief Minister said that the ancient Pilgrimage of Shivrinarayan is called the fifth Dham of India. The four dhams of India are in all the four directions, but this fifth dham is in the middle of the country. Shivrinarayan has been important in every era. It was here that during the exile, Mata Shabri had fed sweet berries to Lord Shri Ram. He said that Shivrinarayan was known as Baikunthpur in Satyug, Rampur in Treta, Vishnupuri in Dwapar and Narayanpur. Shivrinarayan is considered to be the original place of Lord Jagannath. It is believed that from here, he went to Jagannath Puri and established himself. The amount of reverence the people of Chhattisgarh have for Shivrinarayan Teerth,Equal reverence is also in the minds of the people of the neighboring state of Odisha. This holy dham connects Utkal culture and Chhattisgarhia culture. The Chief Minister said that apart from being the confluence of holy rivers, the holy land of Shivrinarayan is also a confluence of Chhattisgarhia and Utkal culture.
The Chief Minister said that Lord Shri Ram had spent maximum time of his exile in Chhattisgarh. He traveled on the forest route from North Chhattisgarh Korea to Sukma in South Chhattisgarh. To save the memories of Lord Ram in Chhattisgarh, Ram Vanagaman tourism circuit project worth about Rs 138 crore has been started, in which 75 places related to Lord Ram have been identified.In the first phase, 9 of these places – Sitamarhi-Harchuka, Ramgarh, Shivrinarayan, Turturiya, Chandkhuri, Rajim, Sihawa, Jagdalpur and Ramaram are being developed as tourist pilgrimages.

The Chief Minister said that the development works of the first phase of Chandkhuri were inaugurated on October 7 last year. Today the development works of the first phase of Shivrinarayan are being inaugurated. He said that a new chain of tourist pilgrimages is being created in Chhattisgarh under the Ram Vanagaman Tourism Circuit Project. This will boost tourism in the state, new employment opportunities will be created and Chhattisgarh will get a new identity at the national and international level. it is worth mentiopning that to smoothen administrative procedures in Shivrinarayan, an SDM office will be set up here soon.

Mr. Baghel said that a three-day function had been organized to inaugurate the development works in Shivrinarayan. During this state level Manas Gaan Competition was organized. In which about 350 Manas singers from 25 districts participated. About 7000 singers took part in the Manas Gaan Competition of Ramayana troupes. Through this competition, an attempt was made to give a platform to the talents of rural areas and to save their cultural values.

Ramayana Interpretation Center has been constructed near Shivrinarayan temple complex. A statue of Mata Shabari feeding Lord Rama with berries has been installed between two trees near it. An information center has been built for the tourists at this place. Where devotees will be able to get information about Shivrinarayan and nearby tourist areas. A huge parking area and toilets have been constructed behind the temple complex including the construction of modular shops in Shivrinarayan. A building has also been constructed for the stay of the devotees in the temple premises. The huge gate of the temple has been renovated and a huge lamp pillar has been constructed inside the temple premises.
