Raipur, 21 February 2022 / On the occasion of death anniversary of Shri Khubchand Baghel on February 22, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel paid him a courteous tribute, saying that Late Shri Khubchand Baghel was a great thinker, visionary, freedom fighter and a great leader of Chhattisgarh state.
Chief Minister said that Dr. Khubchand Baghel dedicated his entire life to the welfare of farmers and society. Besides his efforts to promote education and cooperative movement in the state, he also played an important role in various social movements. Chief Minister said that Dr. Khubchand Baghel was a great visionary who envisioned the formation of Chhattisgarh state and also made sincere efforts to promote Chhattisgarhi culture. His contribution in the movement for the formation of Chhattisgarh state cannot be forgotten.
Mr. Baghel said that during the freedom movement of India, Khubchand ji made significant contribution towards awakening the national consciousness in Chhattisgarh. He also did remarkable service to the region as an MLA and Member of Rajya Sabha. Chief Minister further said that our concept of Nava Chhattisgarh is inspired by the vision of Khubchand ji. In memory and honour of the great gem of Chhattisgarh, State Government has launched Dr. Khubchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana. Under this scheme, free treatment of up to Rs. 5 lakh is being provided to the patients. Government of Chhattisgarh has also instituted Dr. Khubchand Baghel Award, to honour, acknowledge and encourage significant achievement, contribution and research in the field of agriculture. Chhattisgarh is progressing in the direction of realizing Dr. Baghel’s dream of reviving rural economy, said Mr. Baghel.
