Raipur: Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the ‘Jal Mitan-Yuva Udyami’ Entrepreneurship Development Program, organized under the aegis of Jal-Jeevan Mission and UNICEF today

Raipur, 12 June 2023/ Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the ‘Jal Mitan-Yuva Udyami (Young Entrepreneur)’ Entrepreneurship Development Program at his residence office here today. This progam was organized organized under the aegis of Jal-Jeevan Mission and UNICEF .

Public Health Engineering Minister Mr. Guru Rudrakumar presided over the program. Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Secretary to Chief Minister Dr. S. Bharatidasan, Mission Director of Jal Jeevan Mission Chhattisgarh Mr. Alok Katiyar, UNICEF WASH specialist Ms. Shweta Patnaik are were also present in the program.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, PHE Minister Guru Rudrakumar and the prominent guests of the program distributed tool kits to 90 Jal Mitans and young entrepreneurs . The tool kit contained safety shoes, helmets etc.

A number of youngsters of the state have been provided skill development training as ‘Jal Mitan’ and ‘Young Entrepreneur’, with the objective to provide employment opportunities and to ensure permanent maintenance of the infrastructure being developed for water supply through pipeline to every household in rural areas of Chhattisgarh under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Under the joint aegis of Jal Jeevan Mission and UNICEF, 540 youth and 90 young entrepreneurs of the state have been provided residential training for 21 days in permanent maintenance of drinking water supply infrastructure. This includes training in plumbing, Electrical, Solar Panel Repairing, RO repairing etc.

Jal Mitan will provide various services such as Water Quality Testing Services, Tap / Pipe Fitting Repairing, RO Fitting / Repairing, Electrical Fitting / Repairing, Solar Panel Fitting / Repairing, Pump Operator Service

In his address to the inaugural program, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said that Chhattisgarh is the first state of the country, where a large number of youngsters are being trained for the operation and maintenance of drinking water schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission. As Mitan, young entrepreneur and Jal Didi, they are being groomed for maintenance and operation of the schemes.

Chief Minister further said that the State Government is making consistent efforts to engage the youth in various self-employment and employment activities. Besides the unemployment allowance, the government is also providing skill development training to youth. Chief Minister said that so far, 540 young people have been given the high-level training under Jal Jeevan Mission and they have been provided free tool kits today. Chief Minister congratulated the trained Jal Mitans and Jal Didis for the new opportunities of self-employment.

Chief Minister said that under Jal Jeevan Mission, a target has been set to provide tap water connections to 50 lakh households in rural areas of Chhattisgarh. So far, 24 lakh households have been equipped with the tap connections. And for operation and maintenance of such large number of connections, skilled manpower is required. Hence, these trained youngsters will always have employment opportunities and there will be no dearth of work. Chief Minister said that during his recent stay at Kondagaon, appointment letters were distributed to around 550 youths who were trained in skill development there. In this way, more and more employment and self-employment opportunities are being created for the youth of the state.
