Model polling stations decorated with a Chhattisgarhi culture theme for joyful voting, a play zone for children, and comfortable seating arrangements for the elderly

The election is the biggest festival of democracy. In the Raipur district, election fervour takes on a festive hue with the establishment of model polling centres across all assembly constituencies. These centres aim to enhance the democratic experience, providing citizens with a memorable and joyful voting atmosphere. Crafted to evoke a celebratory ambience, these polling stations are adorned with festive decorations reminiscent of home or community festivities. These initiatives will transform the electoral process into a cherished memory for voters, reinforcing the significance of their participation in democracy. Along with exercising voting rights, these model polling centres will contribute to making the electoral journey a festive celebration of democratic values.

Dharampura’s model polling station is decorated with an ecological theme, while Paragaon’s polling station is decorated with a theme of Chhattisgarhi culture, offering voters a cultural glimpse. Civil Lines’ model polling station will prioritise inclusivity with special seating for the elderly and a baby feeding center. Kid Zones will ensure a seamless voting experience for parents, allowing children to play while mothers cast their votes. Notably, provisions include wheelchair accessibility for divyangjan voters, with a thoughtful touch of decoration to uplift their spirits.

In the ongoing state elections, Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure shared insights into the unique approach taken to enhance the voting experience. Polling stations are adorned with Chhattisgarh’s rich traditions through vibrant decorations and thematic displays. Essential facilities are meticulously provided, ensuring a seamless process for all citizens. Diverse themes have been incorporated to engage and appeal to voters, fostering motivation and inspiration. The introduction of selfie zones in these model polling stations adds a contemporary touch, allowing first-time voters and youth to capture their democratic participation. Notably, specific model polling centres cater to the needs of divyangjan, emphasising inclusivity. Some centres are managed by youth, contributing to democratic engagement and instilling a sense of responsibility among the younger generation.
