Event attracts huge crowd on the first day of the National Tribal Dance Festival

Showcased the diverse culture, tradition and folk art of different tribes of the country and abroad including Chhattisgarh

The first day of a 3-day National Tribal Dance Festival, which is being held at Science College ground of Raipur, attracted a big turnout of people from different parts of the country as well as districts of the state. During the festival, tribal artists mesmerized the people with their dance performances related to farming, festivals, rituals and marriages.

Tribal artists hailing from Kerala state performed the ‘Paniya Nirutham’ dance on the stage which is based on traditional rituals. In Kerala, Paniya means the ‘first tribal’.

After that, the artists of Mizoram performed their dance form on the stage. The artists of Mizoram mesmerised the people with their dance form, the Chirag dance style. This dance is also known as ‘Bamboo Dance’. Chirag dance is an ancient tribal theatrical style. This dance is mainly performed during harvesting and marriage rituals.

The tribal artists of Lakshadweep also won the people’s hearts by performing their famous Lava dance. This dance starts with a slow pace and then turns into a fast pace dance, which enthralled the audience.

Artists from Karnataka performed the ‘Dollu Kunitha’ dance which is high on energy and enthusiasm. This dance is performed by the shepherd of Karnataka. Dollu Kunitha is a symbol of bravery dance in which the dhol is used as the main instrument.

It is noteworthy that 1500 tribal artists from ten countries including Mozambique, Mongolia, Tongo, Russia, Indonesia, Maldives, Serbia, New Zealand, Egypt and Rwanda are participating in the National Tribal Dance Festival.
During the Rajyotsava at Science College ground, 21 stalls of state government departments, 40 stalls in Shilpgram, 24 stalls in the food zone, stalls of various industries and PSUs in the theme hangar, 40 commercial stalls have been set up in the development exhibition at Science College ground.

There are many attractions points for the visitors reaching this event, which showcase the diverse culture, tradition and folk art of different tribes of the country and abroad including Chhattisgarh. The exhibition based on the development story and welfare schemes of Chhattisgarh in the last four years is being showcased through the stalls of various departments of the Government of Chhattisgarh.
