Chief Minister Mr. Baghel remembers Dr. Bhanwar Singh Porte, says he was known as ‘Messiah of tribals’
Raipur/Marwahi, 4 July 2022/ Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is expressing his gratitude to the distinguished personalities who have done remarkable work for the upliftment of the region during his state-wide ‘Bhent-Mulaqat Abhiyan’. In this sequence, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel unveiled a life size statue of tribal leader Dr. Bhanwar Singh Porte at Marwahi today. Remembering Dr. Porte, Chief Minister said that Late Dr. Bhanwar Singh Porte did remarkable work for the welfare and upliftment of tribals and development of this area. He was known as the ‘Messiah of the tribals’. “It a great priviledge for me to unveil statue of this inspiring and personality”, he said.
A local tribal dance troupe from village Nevasa presented Danda dance to welcome Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The locals expressed their happiness and gratitude to Chief Minister for unveiling the statue of their leader saying that Mr. Baghel has respected public sentiments, has done much work for tribal welfare and given glory to tribal leaders.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Bhanwar Singh Porte, also hailed as the ‘messiah of tribals’, was born in a tribal family on September 1, 1943 in village Badrahi of Marwahi. He was the founding president of Tribal Development Council in undivided Madhya Pradesh. He acquired fame at an early age.
